I don’t know if you missed me last week, but I missed you.
Let’s see, so…Clovis is now mourning the sudden loss of their OG Fosters Freeze on Clovis Ave. I usually don’t show empathy toward Clovis but I am still not over losing my Bullard one so I won’t kick them when they are down.
It reminded me that there is another Fresno County Fosters that we have lost (I want to say maybe three years ago); the one out at I-5 & Panoche Road. I took some pictures of it recently, it’s in rough shape:

Not many Fresnans see this spot of Fresno County as it is not along our routes out of town. You might have gone through to stay at Mercy Hot Springs, but that’s about it.
I suspect Los Angeles and Bay Area peeps know it better than us. There is other stuff out there, like a Tesla charging station, a surprisingly well-rated Best Western, and an empty pad where the Apricot Tree restaurant used to be.
I have a vague memory of my Grandmother taking us out there to eat at the Apricot Tree once - she and my mom would occasionally take us to random Valley places as an excuse to get out of Fresno for a bit.
The only reason I can be reminded of this spot of Fresno County is I go out there for work sometimes, I don’t know that I would remember it otherwise.
Not that it is the most important thing in the world, but I hope all Fosters Freezes don’t become a vague memory too.
Thank you for reading, Fresno!Fresno! and I hope you’re enjoying the nicer weather and stuff.

Hi Mike. I haven’t been getting any newsletters due to mixed up settings on Substack now rectified. Sorry for not commenting on other posts but now I’ll catch up.
I’m sure you heard about the closing in Clovis of Fosters. There’s the one on Shaw in Clovis that’s still open.
Thanks for the recommendation. Had a new reader sign up.
Hi Mike, really nice pictures and article. My son and I took some pictures of the same Fosters while we driving home from the Bay Area (speaking of "I suspect Los Angeles and Bay Area peeps know it better than us" lol), then I wrote something about it myself. Then I looked up this Fosters Freeze and was happy to see your substack post. I try to avail myself of all things California (including Fresno... been there many times) and will subscribe. Cheers.
