Even if I don’t find myself on one that much, I love them trails. The dotted lines are possible future ones in Fresno County:
If you’re thinking “Dude, why no new trails in the city proper!?” Well it’s because Fresno County and Fresno Council of Goverments are working on the Fresno County Regional Trails Plan with only unincorporated areas.
They are in the middle of sorting out which proposed trails they can actually make happen. The most interesting (IMO) is the one out to Mendota & Firebaugh:
That would make a pretty rad marathon or triathlon. Swim down the SJ River to Firebaugh then run and bike back to Fresno. Heck, throw in some boating so Dave & Kath might show up:
Where The Freeway Ends
If we were smart back in the 70s and didn’t let developers tell us how our city should be, it would have been a great time to figure out a trail system. You know, BEFORE everything got developed and it became more difficult to figure out trails.
Back to a time when 41 hadn’t reached River Park. When there was a drive-in theater instead of an empty lot, a Costco and a Home Depot:
Look at the top of the picture you see Woodward Park. Looking below that, the empty field is now River Park. Below that and to the left is Woodward Drive-In.
Its a trip to see the houses in the path that are now long gone.
The pictures come from John Rupe via the Historically Fresno Facebook page.
This one is SHAW and 41 during construction. Awwww man, I miss Silver Dollar.
Profit For Fresno
If you are involved in a non-profit that provides a service to Fresno and have been around prior to March, the City might be able to get you some cash.
Check out this page to see if you qualify and thanks for whatever it is you do for Fresno!
Party Place Fresno
I don’t know if you heard about this but we elected a new President last week. It’s why there was not a Fresno!Fresno! issued - I spent too much time watching boards.
So, Biden wins and all the big cities start partying in the streets. Which got me thinking “Where the hell do WE go in Fresno to celebrate!?”
Which prompted this poll:
Fresno Twitter has spoken. Next time a big thing happens, WE SHUT OLIVE DOWN!
Thanks for reading! Thank you for sharing and subscribing! Please don’t be like our elected “leaders” and be safe out there, Fresno.
