Echoes of Fresno Past and Present
Hey, this is way before my time, okay, I just thought it was cool: somebody on Historically Fresno posted this picture from 1962 of a snowstorm at Fresno High:
What’s even cooler is, 62ish years later, you can recreate this pic…except for the snow - and honestly (outside of a polar vortex), I don’t think Fresno will ever see it snow again.
Speaking of Tom Seaver Lane/Echo & Normal/Echo & Weldon, how rad is it for Fresno High to have the coolest block of businesses across from a school, in the city!?
You have:
Kuppa Joy Coffee.
MOTO Deli & Bodega (I hear they have beer in there).
Tower District Records.
Academia De Arte Flamenco dance studio.
Ampersand Ice Cream.
Quesadilla Gorilla.
Hair ‘n Now.
It’s all the things needed for life: coffee, ice cream, music, beer, sandwiches, dancing, quesadillas, and getting your hair did.
You can check out the spot while attending this year’s Porchfest. Josh has some info, and speaking of Ampersand and Echo, Porchfest has this related video:
Thank you for reading
you are rad for doing so. Tell a fellow Fresno enthusiast about it the next chance you get and if have a place you can share this newsletter (like a Facebook group) it would be hella appreciated. Take care of yourself out there.-Mike The Fresnan
