‘Jam History Made At The Save Mart Center
People in town were speculating about whom (is it “whom” here? maybe) the drummer would be for Pearl Jam’s show at Save Mart Center Monday since their drummer, Matt Cameron, has been down with Covid and they have been filling the slot with any warm body that could hold a stick.
Well, Fresno got lucky in the Pearl Jam drummer lottery, because for the first time in a long LONG time, Dave Krusen played drums at a Pearl Jam show.
This sparked a lot of interest amongst Pearl Jam geeks and music writers alike:
Dave was the drummer for their first album, “10”. The one that made them.
But Dave had troubles with alcoholism and Pearl Jam had to move on with a different drummer. Krusen got better and went on to play in other bands, including Candlebox.
A mix of timing and virus enabled Pearl Jam and Dave Krusen to reunite in Fresno and we are better for it.
Over at StereoGum they have a full rundown with plenty of Save Mart videos.
ABC 30’s Corin Hoggard has video of Eddie Vedder revealing he’s had a life changing experience in Yosemite and he has been out to the Surf Ranch in Lemoore:
The Fresno Bee has a local perspective review.
And now, post show, bass player Jeff Ament is down with the sickness and Pearl Jam has to cancel a couple shows:
Gotta love a little music history happening in Fresno.
If you want to hear a bootleg of the show and have Sirius XM Radio, June 10th is the day to listen, click for more info.
