Welcome back to Fresno!Fresno! I did not plan to have this much time between issues, it just kinda happened. I have no reasons worth sharing at this time.
Portland traffic sucks tailpipe.
The above screenshot was taken at 2:50 PM on a random Wednesday. That is a lot of red for a Wednesday afternoon.
Yeah I know, Portland has more people than Fresno. This is not a complete match of a comparison. You see, this is about the general day-to-day of what you have to deal with living in Portland vs. say, a Fresno.
So yes, there are more people in Portland. But unlike Fresno, Portland has light-rail throughout the city, more infill, one of THE best biking infrastructures and it’s friendly to walkers.
Yet, red everywhere on the map at 2:51 in the afternoon in the middle of a random week.
And Fresno at the same time on the same Wednesday?…
A little bit of backup at the “McKinley Curve” and slightly sluggish on 99 Southbound – I assume to slowdown to try and see the top of the castle in Storyland.
To be clear, I highly support heavy-duty bike infrastructure, light-rail and support for walking within the city! Fresno needs these things.
Point is, Portland has all the things to support less traffic (as it should and it totally helps), but still eats it so bad that it’s total shit to drive in.
Fresnans win this round of Fresno vs. Portland.
It’s Not A Fresno Summer Without Sweat
My favorite music event in town is Summer Sweat. I love having something that leans into the heat. Plus, the lineup looks superb. Eighteen Hundreds, Sahab, Sleepover Disaster, Sharks Of Dance, Macondo, all are local and bands I am looking forward to seeing.
Share Your Tower Saving Story!
So glad the City of Fresno locked those asshats out of the Tower Theatre for good! And now you can find parking on Sundays:
For those that did help defeat the beast, Heather is looking for your stories:
Looking forward to reading YOUR adventure with that terrible church.
I will leave you with this because I say this all the time and it’s good to know others do to:
Enjoy the Summer nights while they last.
Thank you for reading and subscribing to my newsletter. Remember to stay out of Clovis as much as you can, and it’s okay to sweat sometimes. ✌️
