Hi there.
This week I need to stray from the usual format and share my post about my friend, Eli Reyes. He died this week from a heart attack.
If you don’t know, Eli was a legendary Fresno drummer. Most notably for The Fay Wrays and Rademacher.
I spent a lot of time watching his bands play over the years. He was such a good guy, Fresno was fortunate to have him. Loved playing music so much. I was lucky to call him a friend.
Please check out my post on The Fresnan that features some of what Fresno’s music community has been saying about Eli.
I encourage you to leave a comment here on Fresno!Fresno! if you have something to share about Eli - my blog’s comment section is very limited.
Thanks for reading.
Rest In Peace, Eli.
Man...I've spent A LOT of time with Eli. Prbably spent more time listening to him just,...fucking crush snare drums. Him, on headphones, or iver mics,...is provably responsivbe for a full third of my hearing loss. Worth it.
I loaned him some kit a once, fuck man,...it was not made of unobtainium, and was promptly reduced to parts, ...MONSTER.
Eli was just a beautiful dude. I remember him coming off of Rademacher stage and being like, "Maaaaaaaatt, I fucked up all ur drum parts". I think what he meant was "He Fucked!Them! Up!", not, "played them mistakenly." He def. was not apologizing.
I haven't seen him in forever. Unforgetable person.
A beautiful tribute, Mikey!
