I am going to push out a popular topic for me (eating at places in Fresno) and tell you that I think it’s fine that going out to eat is a thing to do in Fresno.
Hell, it might be the number one overall thing for us. And that is okay.
If you are going to come visit Fresno, I am going to take you out to eat. (You’ll probably still have to pay, but that isn’t the point). So, budget for it. And don’t fucking whine if it’s a daily occurrence and it happens more than once a day.
It might be Pismo’s, Benaddiction’s (RIP NW Fresno location), Cane’s, Livingstone’s, Country Fare Cafe, Me-n-Ed’s, Max’s, that Texas Brazilian all-you-can-eat meat place that used to be Chevys, YOU NEVER FUCKING KNOW WHERE BECAUSE WE HAVE ALL THE THINGS!
So be aware visitors, we are going somewhere to eat and it shall be good and that is fine as an activity to do in a small city. Don’t shame it. Let us restaurant.
More of this kinda talk can be found in this month’s episode of Flowing With Famous.
In fact, since we are slightly on the subject, here is a quick guide for what to do when you have company in town:
Have breakfast at Country Fare Cafe while they wash your car (I have never had them wash my car there, just saying you could have that done).
Find some thrift shops open and buy some stuff.
Relax back at home a bit.
Go have a late lunch at your favorite Me-n-Ed’s.
Wander over to Fig Garden Village/Tower/River Park/Fashion Fair. Window shop or actual shop.
Go back home, clean up a bit. Have a drink. Catch up.
Head out to Mad Duck NW for drinks and dinner.
Get some food at The Meat Up to barbecue for tomorrow.
Ice cream at Ampersand.
More drinks at home or Uber to Tower or the Brewery District and enjoy Tioga Seqoia’s beer garden.
I was just riffing there. You can switch out any of the places to suit your own taste. Adding the Zoo, Woodard Park, Gazebo Gardens (and stuff like that), is highly recommended.
Please enjoy your Fresno restauranting and let me know what things you like to do with folks from out of town.

Underground Gardens is a must with out of towners, and a stop at Libelula.
Great post Mike. One place I take friends who want cheap good eats is Dog House Grill for their $5.99 steak, seasoned chicken( my new favorite) or pork Verdi ( when they have them) tacos. Fast food places can’t touch the price or taste.
