It was (kinda) shocking today to find out Sequoia Brew Pub is closing all three locations by the end of Sunday.
Read up on the story in the Fresno Bee - the gist is, they owe a ton of backrent and it’s become too great of a sum to pay. The current owners bought the places (Tower, NE Fresno, Visalia) around the beginning of the Pandemic and started out in a large hole that would be too hard for anyone to get out of.
Running a business is tough.
Thinking of what could happen to the Tower location…
I wouldn’t be angry if Mad Duck came in. Or Tioga Sequoia want to try their hand at adding food?
Maybe Crow & Wolf or Machine Head get into food serving? Doubt it.
Summer Fox is about to open in the old Audie’s Olympic place, so they are out.
Does Fansler (Pismo’s and all that) have enough guts to do something in the Tower? Nope, I don’t think anyone in the Tower would want that energy there anyway.
Fingers on my beer-drinking hand is crossed for something good to replace at least the Tower location.
It’s scary to think that the Butterfield’s Building (that’s what I am calling it now) could go dark indefinitely. Oh, you don’t think it could happen?
Dude, look at the Chicken Pie Shop building, there has been nothing on top of nothing happening there for a long time. Who is to say the Butterfield won’t suffer the same fate?
I am pulling for a Mad Duck or an all new brewpub owner. We can hope.
There was a lot of buzz for the Morrissey show being announced at Warnor’s Theatre. I was all like “Wait, what? The real Morrissey is coming here?” I thought it must be a tribute performer.
With all the buzz you would think it will sell out, but it’s a bit pricey so I think that is slowing the sales down a bit. Plus, Fresno loves to do day-of ticket buying.
But I dunno, I think it will sell out. And it’s a good get for Warnor’s.
Tickets at Ticketmaster or at TicketNetwork.
Upcoming: A Nicer Day
I can’t tell you how much I want that 70-degree day to come. I have really had enough of this Winter shit and everything else the past few months. Keep your head up.
Thank you for reading my dorky little newsletter. Hope you have a good three-day weekend if you’re lucky enough to be off.

Mad Duck yaya
Hopefully a new owner satisfactory to the City (who owns the Tower building) comes along. I’m not the only one who is not enthusiastic about the previous owners coming back to Tower.
