That is a mini of the Astro Motel sign that used to loom over Highway 99. Eventually it had to give way to 99 being moved over for the HSR.
It’s pretty epic. It’s by @route9signs on Instagram.
Apparently this guy is from Fresno. You would think I’d commission him to do a Fresno sign but I’m thinking a Disneyland sign first:
Fresno’s Biggest Tik Tok-ers
Twin Fresno State WBB team guards, Hanna & Haley Cavinder, are probably the most popular Tik Tok-ers in Fresno.
(Here is where I’d normally post a Tok but Substack doesn’t have a great option for Tik Tok video posts, oh well)
They regularly get over 200,000 views and have one Tok above 1.5mil. Their user handle is @cavindertwins on Tik Tok, here they are YouTube:
I guess they will be playing basketball in the Mountain West this season? So be on the looks out for the duo.
I Think The Air IS Actually Purple
The award for “most relevant website for the Summer of 2020” goes to … PurpleAir.com! Congrats, Purple Air and thanks for letting us look to see if it’s safe/apocalyptic outside. You can also just follow Mark on Twitter for Fresno air things.
Nope. Nope. Nope. Still Nope.
Congrats? to Fresno County on being able to partially open. Still won’t see me inside buildings unless I have to be, but you be you.
I’m not even ready to head back into my favorite beer places yet. I will say I like Tower District beer bar, Goldstein’s, ‘we are ready’ picture though:
NEW FRESNO BASED PODCAST ALERT! 🚨
Longtime Fresno promoter of goodness, radio show host and rad person, Devoya Mayo is part of a new life & music podcast “Sucka Free Sunday”.
You can find it on Spotify and all the usual podcast locations.
Two episodes in and it’s already got me hooked into the conversations. It definitely reminds me of one of my favorite Fresno radio shows of all time, Devoya’s old show on 88.1FM, Move On Up.
Alright, well now I have to listen to some of the old Move On Up theme music:
Be Safe Out There, Fresno!
Thanks for the read! Sorry I wanted to have this out on Sunday morning and be a little thicker but it was a crazy weekend.
