There is some work being done at the future Randy’s Donuts (NE corner of Palm & Bullard). Still no donut on top. My FIC (Fresno Inferiority Complex) is telling me there won’t be a donut because we are not worthy of one.
This is where I am at in life. Thinking about how we are not cool enough to get an oversized donut put on top of a L.A. based chain.
We have given ourselves a reputation that we love chains here. Like, we support chains more than the average city does. I don’t know if that is true or not, but I buy into this notion.
I think I can pick a local option that is better than the chain option, for every genre of food in Fresno. So I am not a chain before local guy. Local first!
But I will admit to liking some chains.
I will also admit that I get a town-ego bump when Fresno gets a sought-after or rare chain. It’s very complicated for me.
So yeah, I am mildly excited that Randy’s Donuts is coming, I confess.
Having another Cane’s coming is kind of exciting too (on Herndon & Riverside next to the Target).
Yep, I am a mess. I want both things: thriving and cool local businesses and hip chains filling in the gaps. Fresno can support both, yeah?!
The Coachella lineup has been announced and no, there are no Fresno bands that I am aware of playing. But, I am looking forward to seeing which of the Coachella acts will be making a stop in Fresno while on their way or leaving.
We always get some spillover and I will be watching

Speaking of Fresno music, Malcolm Sosa of Rademacher fame, has put together an ultimate Fresno music artist playlist on Spotify. Check it out and enjoy the hell out of it:
Many Fresno thanks for opening this. Hope you enjoy the rest of your Fresno week. Support local (and occasionally check in on a chain). 🤷🏻♂️🤷♀️
