Ok now that is pretty damn funny, Terah.
The saga of the Fresno Aquarium is long. Very long. And also… well, no, that’s it, that’s the saga. It’s been doing a whole lot of nothing for a generation - hell, maybe it’s into its second generation now.
But get this: I saw a tractor leveling land there yesterday. I squid you not!
Could they be expanding the almond orchard that runs up to the property? Maybe. But let’s hope for some aquarium action!
Do You Speak Fresnan?
This thing The NY Times did was a hot one on Twitter. Take the quiz and find out where the most likely place you’re from is.
Below are my results. I kinda nailed it:
Interesting. I guess a Fresno accent is the same as a Denver or Salt Lake one. My folks are from the Midwest so that may have tainted my results.
You can take the quiz here.
Do Youz Know Of Any Good Underground Trick-Or-Treat Spots?
I am still not sure how we are going to handle Halloween this year. The street I’m on is weird and doesn’t get trick-or-treaters. So we go to my folks place, which is a pretty lively and has a traditional kinda vibe.
But with the Pandemic, it’s probably a good idea to just not do it. Don’t give out treats and don’t go out either.
But tell that to your kids. Kids that haven’t had normal kid stuff practically all year.
Could trick-or-treating be safe though?
It’s mostly outside.
You can go candy begging with your bubble people.
You can (hopefully) wear a mask.
Candy bowls can be kept at a distance.
BUT, groups happen. Sometimes there is a backup at a door and different groups mix together. Some likely without masks. Bad if you are giving out candy and bad if you are in another group.
I still don’t know what to do. Spreading will happen.
But not everywhere. It’s still safe to get candy underground:
Forestiere Underground Gardens is having a special event this year. Kids will collect treats at several socially distanced stations.
Call 559-271-0734 to reserve a spot as they are limited. You can also donate candy by calling.

They Tryn’ To Catch Me Cinnamon Rollin’
Props to the Fresno Fair for doing this and at least trying something. This year, you can drive-thru the food stands.
It looks pretty nuts:
But wait…I DO like maps:

Check FresnoFair.com for all the info on what you CAN drive thru at the fair this year.
Parklets! Parklets! Parklets!
In a pervious issue I mentioned how the Tower District is getting Parklets placed on Olive. Now Downtown is getting in on the action.
Also pretty exciting for me and all of us, Zack’s Brewing is getting a beer garden upgrade.
Fresno’s future is outside!

Sharing this newsletter would be killer too.
