But now awaits its Starbucks shell. Progress? Nah, bro. (Side thought: It would have been nice to have been around when they removed all that brick so I could have snaked one as a keepsake. Dang.)

Well done, CraigKohlruss. That is iconic, Pop Laval-level shit right there. Giving us a true scale of how big the G sign is, and getting the Security Bank building in there as it watches its old friend being taken away.😢
In case you didn’t catch it, the new building owners were worried that the G sign was unfixable and dangerous so they removed it in favor of one day building a safer and functioning replica. We shall see if they follow through. For now, the G sign will live at the Fresno Fairgrounds sign graveyard.

I’ve only lived in Fresno since 2006 and that sign reminds me of a few like that back in Rhode Island where I went to college and both Boston and New York where I grew up and worked. It brought back fond memories. Plus when I first moved here I used it as a guide of learning my way around. Sure going to miss it!!!
