That hasn't been my experience. I drive 50-55 on Herndon and see all kinds of drivers wanting to go 65-70. They tailgate/road rage while doing so, and there's no way they could ever stop in time in an emergency. You see the crashes all the time, because they overestimate their driving ability, Hey, I like fast motorcycles and cars a lot, but such drivers actually slow the flow of traffic because they hit red lights timed for 50.
Driving on West Herndon I come up on people doing 40-45 regularly, but you’re right, probably less than someone wanting to go 60 plus - usually there is too much traffic to go above 60 anyway so I just laugh at their attempts.
And when someone is broke down, oh man it’s stressful because it’s a big wreck waiting to happen - I just hope that the person knows to call CHP to come behind them to sit there with lights to lessen the chance of someone hitting them.
Everyday I see more people driving like grandpa. I’m a grandpa but I don’t drive 55!
