Have you heard The Consequences: Stories by Manuel Muñoz? I just read about it in The Munro Report by Donald Munro. I am waiting for my copy to arrive. I hope it is like Gary Soto's short stories. The author is from Dinuba. Here is a link to an interview:
Updated: I received a copy of the book, and it is very enjoyable. I like the way farm towns are mentioned and the details of life as a farmworker. It is a reminder that as we enjoy the fruits of their labor, they are often risking their lives and the fear of deportation. I think high school students in these small towns would enjoy learning that they are not the only ones that dream of life in the big city- Fresno.
MIke, I wanted to ask you about doing an interview or podcast with me using my idea Let’s Talk Soup. I want to get people local talking about the food scene here in Fresno using soup as the melting pot so to speak. You get to pick your favorite soup (if you like soup) and mI’ll have mine and we’ll talk. I’m thinking Zoom or a podcast. Let me know.
Love it, Mike. Makes me a little less homesick. Mexican food, Me &Ed’s, and the Vineyard Farmers Market. Ya’ll don’t know how good it is until you’re without.
